Results are in...

Our social worker is a super-woman: she has produced a 23 pages report, which represents us fairly and accurately, in just one week!

She sent her first draft today for us to review. She was missing a few dates and facts, but most of the report was done.

At the end, a section called Recommendation states the following:
It is recommended that Pablo and Genevieve be approved, to adopt a healthy male or female infant, or twins, under the age of 13 months old at the time of adoption, from Sri Lanka.
Yippeeee!!!!

She will now send it for editing and it will be sent to the government for approval.

  1. Hi there
I just googled "adoption + Sri Lanka" and your blog came up and I've read it with great interest as my husbond and I are on the same path. We are waiting for a child from Sri Lanka.
We live in Copenhagen, Denmark. We also have a blog but it's in Danish.
If you'd like, you are more than welcome to email me on mette.fuglsang.nielsen@gmail.com I can see from your posts that you are thinking and feeling much of the same as us.
We are hoping to be able to travel to SL around the end of '13 or beginning of '14 the latest.
All the best in your endavour.

  2. Hi Mette,
Welcome on my blog, and thanks for your comment!
It's great (and quite rare) to hear from other families who are going through the same process as us!
Too bad your blog is in Danish... If you ever start an English version, let me know!

I will email you later on.

  3. Hey Gen,

I came across your site searching for the same thing as Matte. I'm actually FROM Sri Lanka and trying to figure out how to adopt a kid when you are a Sri Lankan. Believe it or not, the amount of information available over here is very limited. My mum's a lawyer but quite un-supportive of my decision so I am still trying to figure out the legal side of it on my own.. I have a few cousins who are adopted and yet no one is willing to share information :( Honestly I don't even know where to go in Sri lanka to start the process!
Anyway, I will be following your blog to see how it's all going. I believe what you are doing is wonderful and wish you all the very best. If you ever need any help or information, do let me know and I will be happy to help you out. TC

  5. Hi TC!
Welcome on my blog, and thanks for leaving a comment.
I'm sorry about your situation... Family support is not a given in adoption, but it is so nice to have..
I wish I could help you with domestic adoption in Sri Lanka. Maybe you could visit orphanages and ask the people working there how to proceed to adopt? I really hope it works out for you!
I feel privileged to have someone from Sri Lanka reading me :)
By all means, comment on my posts about the country if they are inaccurate or you would like to add something!
I will send you an email a bit later.
    Gen
